NBA Basketball: Where Best Laid Plans Happens

The NBA Marketing Machine and Nike put millions into the Kobe vs. LeBron Finals match-up. Dwight Howard and the Magic, however, didn’t get that memo. Here’s a classic parody on the NBA’s “Where Amazing Happens” video that sums it all up!

    My last post wasent …
My last post wasent directed at you. And I meant just the game of basetball in general.

Anyhow, you make two good examples of bad calls. If I were to bust out my DVR and rewatch the game I’m sure I could find a couple of bad calls that went Denvers way. Things tend to even out.

I will still maintain that the Lakers had no officiating edge in the WCF. Denver had plenty of calls go their way. The 6 consecutive fouls in the 4th during game 4 comes to mind. Rarely do these things not even out

    No, i’ve never …
No, i’ve never played in the nba, have you? The bigger bad call on nene was his 4th or 5th where he is simply trying to get position in the post for the ball and they call him for a foul. Also billups was called for a charge when he made a lay-up in the 1st quarter when ariza was clearly in the restricted area. These little bad calls add up over the course of a game.

    sounds like someone …
sounds like someone is a bit upset about some Laker success.

No championship is ever given to a team. If you’ve ever played the game you should be able to understand that.

    Nene was rather …
Nene was rather innefective that game and put himself in a lot of bad positions late in the game.

The foul your refering to I ume is the blocking call on Nene that fouled him out. We’ll Nene was shuffling his feet to get into position and half heartedly flopped to try and draw the O foul and in the process tangled up Gasol. He put the ref in a position to make a call on a key possession.

Like it or not refs are human. Denver had a ton to do with their own defeat in the WCF.

    Lakers fans can …
Lakers fans can call those who point out this FACT ‘haters,’ but I believe deep down inside they know their championship was given to them. I won’t even elaborate on the fact that almost every contender in the West had key players either injured or recently back from an extended absence. Enjoy your championship with an asterisk, Lakers fans!

    you’re right about …
you’re right about the refs giving the Lakers special treatment. They let Kobe play in the game after he elbowed Artest… and it DOESN’T MATTER WHERE HE HIT HIM. He still intentionally elbowed a guy. That was more than enough to suspend him for the game he scored 30… a game that Houston very likely would have won… setting the stage for Houston to advance to the WCF after beating the Lakers in 6.

    The Lakers are …
The Lakers are gonna win the series in 4 so i dont see why this really matters I think the cavs could have done better

    LOL. Refs did …
LOL. Refs did everything they possibly could to help the cavs out and they still couldn’t win. Look at game 4, lebron trips and they give him 2 free throws to tie the game. Earlier in the series dwight cleanly blocks a lebron 3 and they call dwight for his 6th foul and give lebron 3 free throws. Those are just a handful of examples. Lakers will receive the same advantage from the refs if the magic threaten to beat them in this series.

    They don’t have to …
They don’t have to 100% fix games. Just get one teams top player in foul trouble and that should be enough to get a certain outcome. Look at how the refs fouled nene out of game 5 vs the lakers. At least 2 or 3 phantom fouls and lakers get free throws and nene is out of the game. Huge swing from like 2 bad calls.

    WHAT THE ARE U …
WHAT THE ARE U TALKING ABOUT!!!

DWIGHT HOWARD FOULS MORE THAN ANY PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN and doesnt get called for it because he’s a baby. He ELBOWS THE OUT OF EVERYONE… The Refs gave that series to the MAGIC… DUMBASS

There were a ton of …
There were a ton of BS calls. No doubt.

But Howard fouling out is really not that suspicious. He’s foul prone and Cleveland had LeBron driving at Howard as much as possible to get him out of the game

For the most part I agree with you, but my point was that you cant 100% fix games. Refs can call all the calls in the world, but they can’t control who puts the ball in the hoop and defensive mismatches

Like I said theres nothing refs can do about a huge frontline mismatch like Orlando had

    The nba tried like …
The nba tried like to give the series to give the series to cleveland, and even with all the bs calls, the cavs still couldn’t win. Dwight howard fouled out of 4 games i believe in the 6 game series. That doesn’t strike u as suspicious?
    Cavs + refs < Magic

    Well I really don’t …
Well I really don’t know why they didn’t keep those guys together. They seemed to play good together. Then slowly we started to loose all of those guys and we got a lot of younger players.

    on 10th Jun, 09 12:06am

    All this does is …
All this does is prove the NBA is not rigged if you ask me.

Refs can’t control it all. They can call all the calls they want, but it’s up to the players to put the ball in the hoop and adjust to the game.

Not only did the magic play a better brand of basektball than the cavs, but they had mismatches all over the floor that they exploited time and time again.

Not much a ref can do about all those mismatches. Orlando TOOK that series and deserve to be where there at.
