On the days I rest from my workout should I be out playing basketball?

I've been working out my legs every second day because I badly want to be able to dunk a 10ft goal. Should I be resting the days I have to rest or should I be out playing basketball? Often, I still get quite a good workout from playing basketball and my legs will feel even more sore when I get home. Should I just rest it on the days I dont workout my legs?

Any advice would be appretiated, thanks!

you should be resting.

perform some dynamic stretches or some very slow static stretches and that is it. if you work-out too much you will not see any results.

    You need to rest. Take a day. Give your legs a day to recover from the workout otherwise you will just end up tearing them down and it will be tougher to strengthen them.
    I would take that day and get a full body massage, especially on the legs. Any good physical or massage therapist can assist you with this.
