Australia took on the USA Redeem Team on August 5th 2008 for an exhibition game just days before the Olympics… This video focuses on Australia’s highlights, which were rarely shown on America’s sports news programs… this is the footage team USA didnt want everyone to remember.
Keep an eye out for Australia’s rising stars Brad Newley, Dave Barlow and Pat Mills who stepped up to the US all-stars and got within 5 shots from causing an upset (US won by only 11 points, 87-76). Also CJ Bruton and Anstey played important veteran roles.
The Australian Boomers are here to surprise in Beijing… Anything is possible.

team usa are good, …
team usa are good, with that many all stars theres no question about it, but there not invisible anymore, this ain’t no jordan and magic johnson era anymore. They play good but seem to have lost the flow needed to dominate the games like previous olympics. If team usa think they can just play around and get dunks and alleys to win by then they are wrong,
ginoblli and the rest of his team will just drop like a 30 3’s in there face and shut them up

Gold medal game: …
Gold medal game: USA 118 – Spain 107 = 11 point winning margin.
As for not being intimidated anymore…Think back to the 2004 Olympics & the 2006 World Championships. Dark days for the once invincible ‘Dream team’…

i thought they did …
i thought they did beat spain by 37 ? u have good game u have bad game , its normal thing . acttually im glad the spain have that game it show you how Kobe , Wade.. played under pressure that make them great . but again like i said if they play again the USA will beat Spain 30s points again since now they have no pressure. and u think “not intimidated anymore” think again.

USA has lost their …
USA has lost their aura of invincibility and other teams are not intimidated anymore, or at least as much as they used to be. They’re coming out with the attitude that they have nothing to lose, slowing the game down and playing ugly which is when USA’s weaknesses (or team cohesion) are exposed.
Honestly, for a team with that much talent, to win by a measly 11 (on the back of some big 3’s at the end) is not very convincing.
USA should have blown Spain away by 30-odd.

” the world …
” the world catching up ” i really don’t think so of course there are some good players but USA talent pool is just enormous, and of course there is tradition . the Spain and USA game can fool you. honestly the American played too unselfish , every single of them can take the ball to the basket easily even smallish Chris Paul. if they play again without the American have to get gold medal pressure they would kill Spain again like the first game , now they dont have anymore pressure

Of course they …
Of course they would have. I’m not stupid enough to get into an argument about Australia vs. USA’s when it comes to basketball talent. The Aussies were never going to win but the rest of the world are catching up-albeit slowly. With so many talented Europeans and others playing in the NBA the losses will be coming more often and you will have to ‘deal with that’…2004 is not so long ago. Given American basketball’s depth of talent “The Redeem Team” name never should have had to have been used.

playing together or …
playing together or not, they still won. What if they did play together? they would’ve KILLED Australia or any other team for that matter by an even greater spread. Call us cocky…we don’t give a shit. It’s all about country pride. What do you expect? It’s the olympics baby. Deal with it. But hey there’s always next olympics. LOL.

well they beat …
well they beat everyone at least 10 points and won the gold medals. i can pick 2 more teams from NBA players can easily dominate other countries , for instants add some couple big centers froward to the Celtics ( NBA champ this year and none of them player in this USA team) like Shaq .. now beat that.

Ummm – I didn’t say …
Ummm – I didn’t say he’s better than this or better than that. My comments was in response to the ‘3rd of 4th string NBA player’ remark.
Team USA had by far the best individual players of the tournament, but they weren’t the best ‘team’ – their individual skills could overcome the shortcomings of their ‘team’ game. It was all run and gun or, when they got into the half court, pick and roll. Great to watch, but not much teamwise.
I think team USA would struggle against a well-drilled NBA team.

If he was so good then why did Australia still lose to the USA? You know that no other country can come close to us!!! The olympics was just another day in the park. That’s just the way it is.
